One reason why I really, really enjoyed this past unit on weather is because it's so darn practical! I mean, we can just gaze out the window and say (like many of y'all have been lately), "Well, the nimbostratus clouds are increasing. That means there's a low pressure area heading in." or maybe, "Geez it's been gross weather for a few days now, some drizzle and overcast skies, that means a warm front is moving through our area." A few days ago we were pumped because with the clear skies and cumulus clouds, we all knew we were experiencing a high pressure area, so we were armed with sunglasses! WELL ladies and gents! LOOK at this incredible picture I JUST took (12/20/12 at 3:26 pm) of a front moving across the eastern United States. Based on the possible tornadoes and lightning and wind, I KNOW it's a cold front. This boundary is SO cool! Enjoy and stay dry :o) PS: Doesn't science RULE!?!
