But I Don't Feel Like Washing My Hands!

Well, too bad. That should always be the response to the "But I don't wanna wash my hands..." argument. This week, the little doctors have been hard at work sampling, streaking, and culturing bacteria. Each group picked one sample they thought would definitely be "dirty" and one that might be a surprise. Check out what we have growing after just 36 hours!! Don't worry, the petri dishes are sealed shut and the students cannot open them. The moral of the story is, wash your hands often, the world is a pretty germy place!! And cleaning off surfaces with Clorox or 409 every week or so can't hurt either!

Butterfiles!

Last week I had to release the butterflies after school. I wanted to have everyone there to release them together but a gust of wind (we are the open door and window classroom) blew the painted ladies' habitat off the table and covered them with the sugar water. I decided the best thing to do was release them so they could properly dry their wings. It was a beautiful moment and I think the butterflies appreciated a more low key release :o) Usually they fly outta here as soon as they can, but with just me and my lovely helper, Megan, they stayed around and allowed us to observe them. Enjoy the photos!
